Hey man, sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you on this. As far as hosting concerns go I host everything myself. Well I use a hosting serviced. I decided a long time ago when I started doing myspace pages and stuff that what ever hosting I went with that I would just get comfortable with it and stay with it no matter what. I feel like the best solution to these concerns you have would be to create your own server, and run it from your house. You could easily create and server out of an old laptop or anything like that.

The only downfall to this is that you have to have internet connection at all times and that if your internet disconnects then down goes all the pages you have created as well.

I will agree with the myspace code stuff being really weird and out of ordinary protocol. BUT sometime it is kinda fun to explore new ways of writing code. look at it more of a challenge than anything!

I hope these words helped somewhat! Good luck in all that you do and excited to follow your work! Thanks for posting and reading! :)

Brandon

I've always wanted help with this, but dove in and found out how to do a lot of things. Myspace code is REALLY nasty to work with. You kind of have to "forget everything you know about standards-based code" to even begin, because it's so messy. There are still designs that make me wonder "how in the world did they accomplish this?".

Either way, thanks for the article. I do have one question, though. I have my own hosting and use that for my own website and hosting certain things I need. I was wondering, do you use your own hosting server for Myspace clients (to host the images) or is there a service you use?

The things that worry me are: changing my domain and having to re-edit all of the image references on all my client's Myspace sites, or for some reason losing my hosting or moving to another host, or even worse, having to give up hosting altogether in a sticky situation (finances) or something. Is the best way to host these images to use my own server? (I have plenty of bandwidth and storage).

Really awesome post man! It was all so relevant to me, for example your 4-step plan was near enough exactly how I taught and developed myself aha. Real sweet advice for anyone else wanting to start out.

Oh, and giving credit to D-Dub and the others was really respectable too. Nice one dude!
